Terms of service

Last updated: 4 September 2026

1. About these terms

These terms explain:

  • The rules for using the Proper Goods UK website

  • How orders are placed and accepted

  • How payment and delivery work

  • Your cancellation, return and refund rights

  • Our respective responsibilities

Please read these terms before placing an order. By using our website or ordering from us, you agree to these terms.

Our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Delivery Details and Returns & Refunds Policy also apply. Additional terms may apply to individual promotions and will be displayed with the relevant offer.

Nothing in these terms limits the legal rights available to consumers under UK law.

2. Information about us

Proper Goods UK is a trading name used by George Tuffin and Charlie Brown, trading together in a general partnership.

Our business and correspondence address is:

Proper Goods UK
The Oast House
Crismill Lane
Bearsted
Kent
ME14 4NT
United Kingdom

You can contact us by emailing georgeftuffin@gmail.com or through the Contact Us page on our website.

Please do not send returns to the correspondence address without contacting us first. A separate returns address and instructions will be provided when a return is arranged.

We are not currently registered for VAT.

3. Who may order from us

Our website is intended for customers purchasing products for personal and household use.

You must be at least 18 years old to place an order or have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

We currently accept orders for delivery to addresses in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. We do not currently deliver internationally or to Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man.

We reserve the right to limit unusually large orders, suspected resale orders or quantities that exceed reasonable household requirements. If we cancel an order for this reason after taking payment, a full refund will be issued.

4. Customer accounts

You may be able to create a customer account to make ordering easier.

You are responsible for:

  • Providing complete and accurate information

  • Keeping your information up to date

  • Keeping your password and account details confidential

  • Informing us promptly if you believe somebody else has accessed your account

We may suspend or close an account where we reasonably believe it has been used fraudulently, unlawfully or in breach of these terms.

5. Our products

We take reasonable care to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, measurements, prices and other information are accurate.

Product colours and appearance may vary slightly because of lighting, photography, packaging changes, manufacturing variations and differences between screens. Measurements are approximate unless expressly stated otherwise.

Packaging, labelling or minor design details may change without notice. We will not supply a materially different substitute product without obtaining your agreement.

All products are subject to availability. Displaying a product on our website does not guarantee that it is currently available.

Where we sell electrical products, batteries, liquids or cleaning products:

  • Product-specific instructions and safety information must be followed

  • Products must only be used for their stated purpose

  • Any storage, disposal, age or transport restrictions shown on the product or its packaging must be observed

  • Customers should read ingredients, hazard information and suitability guidance before use

  • Electrical products must only be used with suitable UK power supplies and accessories

Any manufacturer’s warranty is additional to, and does not replace, your statutory rights.

6. Placing and accepting orders

When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase the selected products.

An automated order-confirmation email confirms that we have received your order. It does not mean that we have accepted it.

A contract is formed for each product when we send confirmation that it has been despatched. If products are despatched separately, a separate contract may be formed for each despatch.

Payment will normally be taken or authorised at checkout. Taking payment does not by itself mean that an order has been accepted.

Before despatch, we may decline or cancel an order where:

  • A product is unavailable

  • Payment cannot be authorised

  • The price or description contains an obvious error

  • Delivery restrictions prevent us from sending the product

  • We reasonably suspect fraud or unlawful activity

  • The order exceeds reasonable quantity limits

  • An incorrect price, discount or promotion has been applied because of a technical error

If we cannot accept an order after taking payment, we will refund the amount paid to the original payment method.

7. Prices and payment

All prices are shown in pounds sterling.

We are not currently VAT registered, so VAT is not charged separately. Prices include any other taxes that apply to the transaction.

Delivery charges are displayed separately during checkout. Standard UK delivery currently costs £3.99 per order.

Available payment methods are displayed at checkout. Payment services may be provided by Shopify or another secure third-party payment provider.

You confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method selected.

We may change prices at any time, but a price change will not affect an order we have already accepted.

If a price is clearly incorrect and the mistake could reasonably have been recognised, we may cancel the order before despatch and provide a full refund.

8. Discount codes and promotions

We may occasionally provide discount codes or promotional offers.

Unless an offer states otherwise:

  • Only one discount code may be used per order

  • Discount codes cannot be combined

  • Codes cannot be exchanged for cash

  • Codes cannot be applied retrospectively

  • Codes may have expiry dates, minimum spends or product exclusions

  • Discounts do not apply to delivery charges

  • Refunds are based on the amount actually paid after discounts

  • Codes may be limited to one use per customer

  • Promotions are subject to product availability

We may amend or withdraw a promotion before an order is accepted. This will not affect an order already validly accepted using that promotion.

Separate promotional terms will take priority where they are displayed with a particular offer.

9. Cancelling an order before despatch

If you want to cancel or amend an order, please contact us as soon as possible.

We will try to accommodate the request, but cancellation cannot be guaranteed once warehouse processing has begun.

If an order has already been despatched, it must be handled in accordance with our Returns & Refunds Policy and your statutory cancellation rights.

10. Delivery

10.1 Delivery service and price

Standard UK delivery costs £3.99 per order.

Orders will normally be sent using Royal Mail Tracked 48. We may use another reputable tracked carrier offering an equivalent service where reasonably necessary.

We may split an order into more than one parcel. You will not be charged additional delivery fees unless this was agreed before ordering.

10.2 Same-day despatch

Orders placed before 12 noon UK time on a working day will normally be despatched that day, subject to stock availability, successful payment and any necessary security checks.

Orders placed:

  • At or after 12 noon

  • On Saturday or Sunday

  • On a bank holiday

  • On another day when our warehouse is closed

will be despatched on the next working day.

For despatch purposes, a working day is Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays affecting our warehouse or carrier.

10.3 Expected delivery table

Royal Mail normally delivers tracked parcels from Monday to Saturday. Saturday may therefore be included as an expected delivery day, even though we do not despatch orders at weekends.

The following table applies when there are no intervening bank holidays or exceptional carrier disruptions:

Order placed Expected despatch Expected delivery by
Monday before 12 noon Monday End of Wednesday
Monday at or after 12 noon Tuesday End of Thursday
Tuesday before 12 noon Tuesday End of Thursday
Tuesday at or after 12 noon Wednesday End of Friday
Wednesday before 12 noon Wednesday End of Friday
Wednesday at or after 12 noon Thursday End of Saturday
Thursday before 12 noon Thursday End of Saturday
Thursday at or after 12 noon Friday End of Monday
Friday before 12 noon Friday End of Monday
Friday at or after 12 noon Monday End of Wednesday
Saturday, at any time Monday End of Wednesday
Sunday, at any time Monday End of Wednesday

Bank holidays and warehouse closures will move the expected despatch and delivery dates forward.

These dates are estimates rather than guaranteed delivery times. Missing an expected date does not create an automatic promotional refund, although this does not affect any cancellation, refund or other right provided by consumer law.

10.4 Delivery-area exceptions

Our standard delivery service is available throughout the UK. However, the expected two-day delivery timeframe does not apply to postcode areas for which Royal Mail does not provide its usual Tracked 48 delivery target.

At the date these terms were last updated, the excluded postcode areas are:

  • AB: AB30–38, AB41–45, AB51–56 and AB99

  • BT: All BT postcodes

  • DD: DD8–10

  • DG: DG7–9

  • FK: FK8 and FK15–21

  • HS: All HS postcodes

  • IV: All IV postcodes

  • KA: KA27–28

  • KW: KW1–17

  • PA: PA20–38 and PA41–80

  • PH: PH10–11, PH13–14, PH17–18, PH19–44 and PH49–50

  • TD: TD15

  • TR: TR21–25

  • ZE: All ZE postcodes

Orders to these areas will still be sent using a tracked service but may take longer to arrive.

Royal Mail may update its delivery-target areas. We may update this list to reflect changes made by Royal Mail, but any change will apply only to future orders.

10.5 Circumstances outside our control

Expected delivery dates may be affected by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including:

  • Severe weather

  • Carrier disruption

  • Industrial action

  • Transport or network failures

  • Public emergencies

  • Unexpectedly high seasonal parcel volumes

We will provide reasonable assistance if a parcel is delayed. If a delay becomes significant, any rights you have under consumer law remain unaffected.

10.6 Delivery instructions and attempted delivery

Delivery may be completed by:

  • Handing the parcel to you

  • Handing it to somebody at the delivery address

  • Leaving it in a safe place you have authorised

  • Delivering it to a neighbour you have authorised

  • Delivering it to a collection point selected or approved by you

An unsuccessful delivery attempt may count as meeting the expected delivery timeframe where delivery could not be completed because nobody was available or the carrier could not access the address. Delivery itself is not completed until the parcel has been delivered or collected.

10.7 Incorrect or incomplete addresses

You are responsible for checking that the delivery address supplied at checkout is complete and accurate.

If an incorrect or incomplete address prevents delivery and the parcel is returned to us, we will refund the amount paid for the products once they are safely returned. The original delivery charge will not be refunded.

You may then place a new order using the correct address.

We cannot guarantee that an address can be changed after an order enters warehouse processing.

10.8 Responsibility for products during delivery

We remain responsible for the products until they are delivered to you or to a person or location authorised by you.

Ownership of the products passes to you once we have received full payment and delivery has been completed.

Please contact us if tracking shows a parcel as delivered but you cannot locate it.

11. Cancellation, returns and refunds

11.1 Statutory cancellation right

For most products purchased online, you have a legal right to change your mind.

You may notify us that you wish to cancel within 14 days beginning on the day after you, or somebody nominated by you, receives the products.

If products from one order arrive separately, the cancellation period generally begins on the day after the final product is received.

After notifying us within the statutory cancellation period, you normally have another 14 days to send the products back.

11.2 Our additional 30-day returns promise

In addition to your statutory rights, we provide a 30-day change-of-mind returns policy.

To use this additional policy, you must contact us and send the product back within 30 days of receiving it.

For returns made under the additional part of this policy after the statutory cancellation period, products must be:

  • Unused

  • Complete

  • In a resaleable condition

  • In their original packaging

  • Returned with all accessories, instructions and included items

These additional conditions do not restrict your statutory right to inspect a product as you reasonably could in a shop during the statutory cancellation period.

We may make a reasonable deduction if handling beyond what is necessary to inspect a product has reduced its value.

11.3 Arranging a return

Please contact us before sending a product back. We will provide the returns address and relevant instructions.

Please include your order number and sufficient information to identify the return.

Sending a return without first contacting us may delay its identification and processing, but it will not remove any statutory rights you may have.

11.4 Return postage

If you return a non-faulty product because you have changed your mind, you are responsible for arranging and paying for return postage.

We recommend using a tracked service and retaining proof of postage until the refund has been completed.

If a product is faulty, damaged or not as described, we will arrange or cover the reasonable cost of returning it.

11.5 What will be refunded

Where an entire order is cancelled under the statutory cancellation right, we will refund:

  • The price paid for the products

  • The cost of our standard delivery service, where required by law

If you selected a delivery service costing more than our standard service, the additional delivery amount does not have to be refunded.

For change-of-mind returns made during days 15–30, we will refund the price paid for the returned product. The original £3.99 delivery charge will not be refunded.

11.6 Refund timing and method

Refunds will be made to the original payment method.

We will process a refund within 14 days of receiving the returned products or, where the law requires, receiving satisfactory evidence that they have been sent back.

We may withhold a refund until we receive the products or satisfactory evidence of return where legally permitted.

Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to display the refund.

11.7 Exchanges

We do not currently provide exchanges for change-of-mind returns.

If you want a different product, please return the original product for a refund and place a new order.

11.8 Exceptions to change-of-mind returns

The right to change your mind may not apply to certain products where an exception is permitted by law, including:

  • Personalised or made-to-order products

  • Products that deteriorate or expire rapidly

  • Sealed products that are unsuitable for return for health or hygiene reasons once unsealed

  • Products that become inseparably mixed with other items after delivery

  • Digital content supplied immediately with your express agreement, where applicable

Liquids, cleaning products or other restricted products may also require special return arrangements because of carrier and safety rules. Please contact us before attempting to return them.

These exceptions do not remove your rights where a product is faulty, damaged or not as described.

Further information is available in our Returns & Refunds Policy.

12. Faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied products

Products must be:

  • Of satisfactory quality

  • Fit for any purpose made known to us

  • As described

  • Supplied in accordance with applicable consumer law

If a product is faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or not as described, please contact us with your order details.

We may ask for photographs or other reasonable information to help identify the problem. This does not remove any legal right to a refund, repair or replacement.

The requirement for products to be unused, resaleable and in their original packaging does not apply to genuinely faulty products.

Depending on the circumstances and the time since purchase, you may be entitled to reject the product for a refund or request another remedy available under consumer law.

13. Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.

We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence

  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation

  • Faulty or misdescribed products

  • Breach of your statutory consumer rights

  • Any other liability that cannot legally be excluded

Our store is intended for consumer purchases. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for business losses such as loss of profit, revenue, opportunity or business interruption arising from products purchased primarily for commercial use.

General website content is provided for information and is not professional, medical or technical advice. This does not reduce our responsibility for product descriptions, safety information or statements forming part of a sales contract.

14. Events outside our reasonable control

We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by an event outside our reasonable control where we have taken reasonable steps to minimise its effect.

We will contact affected customers where reasonably possible and resume performance as soon as we can.

If an event causes a significant delay, you may contact us to discuss cancellation. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

15. Acceptable use of our website

You may use our website only for lawful purposes.

You must not:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, its servers or connected systems

  • Introduce viruses, malicious code or harmful technology

  • Use automated systems to scrape or extract website content without permission

  • Interfere with the website’s operation or security

  • Use the website fraudulently or unlawfully

  • Impersonate another person

  • Submit false payment, account or contact information

  • Use our website or content to infringe another person’s rights

We may restrict access where we reasonably believe these rules have been breached.

We do not guarantee that the website will always be available or completely free from errors. We may suspend or change parts of the website for maintenance, security or operational reasons.

16. Intellectual property

The website and its content—including text, branding, logos, graphics, photographs, videos and page designs—belong to us or are used under licence.

You may view and print reasonable extracts for personal, non-commercial use.

You must not reproduce, sell, commercially exploit, modify or republish our content without permission, except where the law allows.

You may link to our website fairly and legally, provided the link does not falsely suggest an association, approval or endorsement.

17. Reviews and customer content

You may be able to submit reviews, photographs, comments or other content.

Anything submitted must:

  • Reflect a genuine experience

  • Be accurate to the best of your knowledge

  • Not be unlawful, threatening, abusive, discriminatory or defamatory

  • Not infringe copyright, privacy or other third-party rights

  • Not contain malware, spam or unauthorised advertising

  • Disclose any payment, free product or other incentive connected with the review

You retain ownership of your content. By submitting it, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce and display it on our website and in marketing connected with Proper Goods UK.

You confirm that you have the right to submit the content and grant this permission.

We may moderate or remove content that breaches these rules. We will not remove a genuine review solely because it expresses a negative opinion.

18. Third-party services and links

Our website may use or link to services operated by third parties, including payment providers, delivery carriers and social-media platforms.

Third-party websites and services have their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for their independent content or operation, although this does not reduce any responsibility we have for fulfilling your order.

19. Personal information

We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

You are responsible for ensuring that information supplied when creating an account or placing an order is accurate.

20. Changes to these terms or our website

We may update these terms to reflect changes in our business, services or the law.

The terms applying to a purchase will normally be those in force when the order is accepted. Later changes will not retrospectively alter an existing sales contract unless required by law or agreed with you.

We may change, suspend or withdraw website content, features or products without notice. This does not affect orders already accepted.

21. Complaints and contacting us

If you have a question or complaint, please contact us first so that we can try to resolve it.

22. Applicable law and courts

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

If you live in England or Wales, the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction.

If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK where you live. Nothing in this section removes any mandatory protection provided by the law of your country of residence.

23. General provisions

If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

If we do not immediately enforce a right under these terms, that does not mean that we have waived it.

These terms do not give enforcement rights to anyone other than you and us, except where the law provides otherwise.

Electronic communications, including order confirmations and despatch emails, may be used in connection with your order.
